On October.26th, 2011, Johnson was chosen by The Manitoba Women’s Advisory Council and Mentoring Artist’s for Women’s Art (MAWA) to be honored along with 7 other artists by Jennifer Howard,The Minister of The Manitoba Status of Women in their publication: Women in The Arts; Artists Working for Social Change.

THE PROGRAM : Come with me, Ingrid D. Johnson & my band, “The Funky Fresh Crew”, on an inspiring, creative, spoken word, musical journey about overcoming, childhood sexual abuse.

WHO SHOULD COME? : Anyone willing to learn about the impact of childhood sexual abuse and who want to be inspired by a personal story about learning to overcome it.

Johnson has spoken & performed her songs for The Canadian Red Cross RespectED: Violence and Abuse Prevention program, The Manitoba Congress of Black Women, Voices Manitoba Youth in Care Network (workshops for youth), Klinic Community Health, UNICEF, Osborne House, Hot 103 (Christmas Cheer Board & Children’s wish) and The Spence Neighbourhood Association to raise awareness and funding. She is the current spokesperson for The Laurel Center, a community resource center that counsels sexually abused women with addictions.


Johnson is a published poet, singer-songwriter, film maker and spoken word artist.
