This month we were blessed with a show for Osborne House at The Manitoba Museum, on October.2nd, 2010, an invitation to The Governor General of Canada’s youth forum (straight from her office), a second show on October.23rd, 2010 at 8:30 p.m., and the top of the line CD review by John Kendle in Uptown Magazine.

Wounded Soul
(In the Closet Productions)
A
Ingrid D. Johnson
Comprised of two CDs, Ready for Change and Ready to Love, Wounded Soul is a sprawling, emotional and intoxicating blend of R&B, hip hop and spoken-word. It all stems from the indefatigable spirit of Ingrid D. Johnson, a born-again singer/songwriter whose work is intensely personal but also eminently catchy. When she’s not being a chanteuse (Tired, Un Loveable or Hurry Up), she’s delivering fierce spoken-word rants or joining the likes of Fenom, Maiko Watson, NDU and Flo on jams such as My Soul, You & Me or Time for a Change. A portion of the proceeds is being donated to The Laurel Centre.

“Using her music to heal wounded souls”

http://www.winnipegsun.com/entertainment/music/2010/01/20/12547226.html

Last Updated: 20th January 2010, 5:51pm

In a world of shallow, self-centred pop music, Ingrid D. Johnson is clearly an artist with a higher calling. The local singer, poet and spoken-word performer uses her music to overcome the trauma of sexual abuse. Not surprisingly, Johnson speaks from the heart — even when answering my dumb questions.

Ingrid D. Johnson “WOUNDED SOULS” A book of poems & songs by Ingrid D. Johnson was inspired by this Bible verse (BELOW), after finally learning to trust God to help her overcome the trauma of childhood sexual abuse.

“… But He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. ” ISAIAH 53: 5-6
